I came back home after a long stay of 40 days in Las Vegas and I struggled pretty much to recover the jetlag!
The last tournament I played was the Main Event, which is the most important tournament not just of my trip, but also of the whole year. Unfortunately, my plans have not gone in the right direction, since I have been eliminated not very far from the money, during the end of Day 2. I have never been particularly lucky during these two days of playing, but the super-optimal structure of the tournament allows you to manage your own stack for several hours also if you don’t find interesting spots to play.
On a 599J board I put all my chips with 55 and I was called by 79, but a J on the river busted me from the tournament. Probably, winning this hand, I would have reached the money and certainly extended my life in the tournament. In terms of the results, my WSOP did not go that well:
Tournaments: – $15,000
Cash Games: – $2,000
Sit & Go: + $5,000
I lost a total of $12,000 that is a lot of money, but only the buy-in of the WSOP Main Event was $10,000.
Despite of the negative balance, I am still satisfied because I think I played very well, reaching 4 ITM on a total of 16 tournaments played and anyway I think I really did my best, especially considering some personal problems I had to face during this trip.
The program now is to spend my birthday in Italy with my family and then return to Malta to enjoy what the island has to offer during the summer. These days I am playing both online tournaments, especially on Sunday, and some Heads-Up STG hypers on PlanetWin365, which are very funny to play!
My next live competition will be in Barcelona for the EPT where, as always, I will play many tournaments: but I will talk about them in the next post…
If you don’t try,you never know!
True story, long run is everything in Poker!
How did you find the cash games? Did you run bad to have lost money or just a tough game?
Hello ChipDouglas,
First of all cash game is not my main game so I decided to focus more on live Sit and Goes at Rio and it was a good decision overall. I heard from many good players that cash game is tougher in Vegas compared to the last years.
